The admission came as the dancer supported their latest announcement.
Vito Coppola has admitted to ‘crying’ over one of his Strictly Come Dancing co-star’s performance on the hit dance show as he supported their latest announcement.
The Italian dancer took part in the BBC One dance contest last year alongside actress Sarah Hadland. The pair made it all the way to the final of the 2024 series, where they lost out to comedian Chris McCausland and pro dancer Dianne Buswell.
As with the other couples lined-up for the last series, Chris, who was Strictly’s first-ever blind contestant, and Dianne first met when they were paired together back in September, weeks before their first performance live in the show’s iconic ballroom.
There were emotional scenes back in December when the comedian and the professional dancer won the 2024 series of the BBC One dance contest and lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy after beating their fellow finalists, including Vito and Sarah, JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec.
It’s now been revealed that Chris and Dianne are among the nominees for the Bafta P&O Cruises Memorable Moment award. The award is voted on by the public and aims to celebrate the most impactful parts of the year’s television.
The Strictly winners are nominated for their performance of You’ll Never Walk Alone, which saw Dianne leave the ballroom floor so her partner could dance on his own before she returned to spinning in his arms moments later in tear-jerking scenes.
Sharing the news on Instagram on Wednesday (March 12), Dianne wrote on Instagram: “I am so proud of us @chrismccauslandcomedy we are nominated for a BAFTA for our beautiful waltz to you will never walk alone.
“It’s the only BAFTA award that the winner is decided by you guys. So if you enjoyed this moment as much as we did go ahead and give us a vote the voting opens at 8am today and finished April 25th I’ll leave the link in my bio.”
She added: “This dance was so special to both of us hence why we chose this dance as our final dance to enjoy together on the night of the strictly final ! The emotion felt in every step was so so real and we are just so honoured to be nominated @bbcstrictly.”
Vito was among those to respond to the post as he commented: “”Omg YESSSSS,” before adding a second comment which read: “I am soo excited and Happyyyyyy))))) BELLISSIMO!!!!!!!!!”
He also shared Dianne’s post to his Instagram Story and said: “I am so happy and exctied. So well deserved [red heart emoji]. This dance was so special and made me cry every single time [face holding back tears emoji].” He added: “Let’s vote people.”
