The job isn’t finished for Travis Kelce.

After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl earlier in February, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is set to put to rest ideas of retirement and make his way back for the 2025 season, ESPN’s Pat McAfee said on his show Thursday.

According to McAfee, his “source” said via text, “I’m coming back for sure. Gonna try and get to the best shape I’ve been this off-season and get back to the mountaintop. Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!”

Following the Chiefs’ loss in the Super Bowl, Kelce said on his podcast New Heights that he would “take some time to figure it out” and that the door was open to returning or retiring.

“I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility,” Kelce said.

Kelce, 35, was productive in 2024, finishing with 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season and adding 13 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown in three playoff games.

But the regular-season yardage was his lowest total since he became a full-time player in 2014.

The 10-time Pro Bowler has one year left on his contract with the Chiefs, the only team he has played for in the NFL.
