Man with ‘large kitchen knife’ approaches children outside primary school

The incident occurred at around 4pm yesterday (Tuesday, March 18) at Hardwick Park close to Hardwick Primary School on Ferriston in Banbury.
Children from the school witnessed a man wearing black clothes and holding a large kitchen knife in the park.
The school said the man approached one of the children leading to the group leaving the park and returning home.

None of the children were hurt in the incident and the matter has since been reported to Thames Valley Police.
Details of the incident were released via an update to parents from Hardwick Primary School on Wednesday.
“A group of children at Hardwick have reported to staff a concerning incident that occurred in Hardwick Park after school yesterday,” said the statement.
“When we receive such reports, we inform the police, families and our students and staff, so that they can remain vigilant.

“A group of our students have reported that on Tuesday, March 18 at approximately 4pm, the children witnessed a man wearing black clothes holding a large kitchen knife.
“He approached one of the children and they left the park and returned home. No children were hurt in this incident.
“This matter has been reported to the police by the school today.
“Please remain safe when walking to and from school and remember to report anything that makes you feel unsafe.”
Thames Valley Police has been contacted for comment and further details on the incident.
