Leppi, the traditional fabric of Guinea, has been officially recognised as a cultural heritage of the West African country and is now protected by the African Intellectual Property Organisation (OAPI). Its new status not only safeguards the artisanal know-how needed to weave it but also shields the fabric from counterfeits.
